All About the Red Amaryllis Lily

How to Grow & Care
Sunlight: Place your Amaryllis in a warm spot with bright, indirect sunlight. A little bit of morning sun is fine, but too much harsh, direct afternoon sun can fade the beautiful red flowers.
Soil & Planting: Plant the bulb in rich, well-draining soil. When planting, leave the top one-third (the pointed end) of the bulb sticking out above the soil line. It hates sitting in soggy mud.
Watering: Water very lightly when first planted. Once you see the green stem starting to grow, water it regularly to keep the soil slightly moist, but never soaking wet.
Feeding (Fertilizer): Feed it with a balanced liquid plant food once a month while it is actively growing and flowering to keep it strong.
After-Bloom Care: When the flowers fade, cut the flower stem off but leave the green leaves growing so they can gather energy for next year. Later, when the leaves naturally turn yellow and die back, let the bulb rest (go to sleep) in a cool, dry place before watering it again.
